  • It's only been awhile but already I'm going to say goodbye to Xanga. Unfortunately, I can't access Xanga from my office for whatever reason and when I can it's super slow. So, I'm packing up and leaving. My new blog will be at:

    www.incogneeto.wordpress.com

Feel free to drop by when you have time. At the moment I haven't figured out how to import blogs from Xanga to Wordpress so I will probably be abandoning this site. See you at the new place!

  • Resuscitate

It's alive!! Haha.. OK.. Lame.. Anyway, my blog has been abandoned for the better part of a long time so its time to give it some attention. Many many things are happening in the next few months and here's my side to the story to some of them.

The month of November is going to a busy time for many of us. Usually this is the time when most of us are busy getting ready for Christmas and the new year. The only difference for me this year is that I'm now working. It's also and equally busy time in the corporate world, especially with the economical slump that is happening in the world today. This year is the 1st ever time that the YF is having a camp motivation that is heavily activity based. It is also the first time in a long while that the campers are more than 50% newcomers. Praise God! But its also pretty scary for the camp committee. We are heading towards uncharted waters and basically playing by feel. I for one am a little worried about how things are going to turn out. But I have to learn to trust God and trust that He has prepared the things the way they are. Whether or not I am 'ready' for the camp, God has His plan for me and I would be a fool to say to God that I want to go this way when God tells me to go the other way.

    Christmas

Ah... the sweet time of the year when everything takes on a magical quality. The most mundane and ordinary activity seems to take on a magical 'filter'. But I sorta stopped feeling that way quite some time ago. I don't really know what happened? Did I lose the meaning of Christmas? Has Christmas become a bore to me? A time when I am totally exhauseted and drained of energy after all the activities? Maybe. But lately that old familiar feeling has been coming back again. Yeah, there's still a ton of things to do. But I think that the real Christmas is when we remember how it orginated. Christmas is a reminder of when God stooped down and offered humanity a way to get back off its knees. When I think of the great love that made it possible for us to once again be reconciled to God, and the way in which it was given to us, I can't help but be amazed. Not by a conquerring worrior, nor a skilled politician. But by a innocent little baby. Think about that, wow....

It's always nice to receive presents and gift on Christmas day. As a kid, I always looked forward to the presents that would come. But as we grow up, the presents decrease in quantity. Nowadays I have to buy my own presents! Hah! Bitterness dripping out of my ears. But anyway, I guess thats a good thing in a certain sense. The presents may dillute the true meaning of Christmas. And after awhile, you really start to see that whether or not Christmas brings you many or little presents, the greatest gift you can have has already been unwrapped for you.

In my previous blog, I remember mentioning that I would include pictures in my blog. However, I don't have anything interesting enough (to me anyway) to post on my blog. Camp motivation is coming out, so I think that after that I would have a ton of pictures to post up. Be patient with me, I am a man without a digital camera. Haha.

  • Ma poor abandoned blog!

Well, not really. I haven't had time to update my blog the last week. Pretty busy with reports and work. Weekend was Mike Lim's wedding to Julia. Congrats!

Anywho... it's the holidays! I am so in the holiday mood that I am blogging at work (insert wicked laughter here). Its ok, cause there is nothing much to do, only some purchase orders to put in, some reports to do and some problems to fix. Not much. LOL.

Last Sunday was the birthday of two of my best buddies. William and Daniel. Happy Burfday (belated... I mentioned you on my blog! Your gonna be famous!! Royalty please.. tank u...). Went makan makan at two nice restaurants in the last 2 days. Went to TGIF on Sunday with William, Timothy, Richard, Jes and Yew Hwei. Ate some awesome burger and stuff. The buffulo wings were abit of a letdown though. I must say, the 'buffulo' wings must have come from some kampung chicken because they were TINY! The 'siew kai yik' I eat near my office also nicer man! (I'm only refering to size though). The highlight of the night was the fact that all of us, being big eaters, and the girls, being dessert eaters, could not finish the desserts! Maybe it was too sweet, but I though girls like sweet stuff? No? Am I wrong? LOL.

Then there was Monday. Cause Daniel was busy with something (wink wink) on Saturday and Sunday, we (Eunice, Jeremy, Wai Jing) decided to take him out on Monday. Well, it was mostly me but they came along to 'ease the burdern'. hahaha.. kidding... First first (I'm murdering English) we went to Chillis at Mid Valley. As some you know, you can't book a table in advance. So when went to the restaurant, there was a long errrrrr... crowd?... standing outside with people inside also jammed packed waiting for places to sit. After enquiring at the door, we were informed that we would have to wait for an hour to get our places. Needless to say we left for greener pastures. Then we decided on Itallianies (don't really know the spelling). There, we saw Hafiz Hashim eating there. But unfortunately, the restaurant was full. So we left our name on the list again and went out to hang around. We then spotted Alexis one floor down so we decided to go there and eat. The food wasn't fantastic but the dessert was awesome! We had Tiramisu! It was was topped with crunchy caramelized nuts and stuffed with chocolate in the middle. NICE! It was so good that we ordered 2 slices. I would like to hereby state for the knowledge of all guys in the world, when a girl says she is 'full', she actually means 'my main course stomach compartment is full but I'm hungry for dessert'. LOL! GIRLS U KNOW ITS TRUE!!! On this night we managed to finish the desserts and actually I wouldn't have minded more cuz I didn't get much! cis...

Tomorrow is the Hari Raya holidays. I remember a time when holidays were a semi-mythical time where the days were filled with endless bliss and activities. Now, holidays are a time of dreariness and boredom. So sad. I am actually contemplating bring back work from the office so that I have something to do during this time. HAH! So sad! So if you need an extra person for any activity (besides knitting, crafts-making and gardening), you can call me! PLEASE! HAH.... so desperate.

Choir practise has started already. So few people... haih... I guess people move on really quickly from the choir. Haven't really had new blood in a long time. Btw, the choir welcomed Timothy to its ranks. Now just wanting for the Chew to finally attend a choir practise.

Certain people (person) have commented that my blog has too many words. I don't have that many pictures to upload yet. So if you people see me taking pictures at a wierd time please understand that I am dedicated to my blog and want it took pwetty. HAHA! My next post would have a picture in it. I promise!

  • Fact

"In just about every species of mammal, the female lives longer than the male"

That was an interesting fact that I read on a website on the net. Interesting no? I always thought that it only applied to humans. Let us explore the possible reasons behind this statement. (Remember people, this is an opinion based blog, nothing I say here is truth and I admit I may be wrong and biased.... PLEASE DON'T HATE ME!)

    1. Diet - Somehow, I have a feeling that females take care of their diet better than the average male. This being because lots of guys love to eat. And also because of the social stigma that slim and small is beautiful. Females often face the pressures of having to look slim much more than males do. In fact, some males (I'm included here) believe that being round is being in shape! (Round is a shape, ask any kindergarten kid and you'll find that out pretty easily). Better diet equals better health. Of course, this is not to say that all diets are good, but that's the other extreme. However, even supposedly 'fit' guys that I know eat a whole lot of garbage and at the wrong times so even though they are thinner, they may not necessarily be healthy (yes, it sounds slightly bitter, but its a fact!)

    2. Stress - Ok, this is entering the zone of pure opinion. I'm not going to say that females go under less stress. I just think that the way the stress is handled is different. Guys then to hold it in more often and find it hard to share their problems with other people. Because of that, we don't really get problem 'off our chests'. Medicals studies (cheh wah, i speaka medicine) have shown that stress can cause multiple complications to a persons health, affecting them both mentally and physically. Females always want to talk about their problems (to the right people of course) and so they have more shoulders to support them. Plus, females cry more easily than males. Crying brings you relief, no? Plus (I am gonna get shot or ex-communicated), females give males stress oso.... (pitter patter.. *sound of me fleeing to the ends of the earth....*).

3.Work - Yes! Work! Usually (not all the time) the more dangerous jobs go to males. Soldiers, pilots, racing car drivers, footballers (lol), timber cutters, fishermen, and constructions workers are usually (not all the time) men. If the stress doesn't kill you, work hazards will. (If you haven't noticed yet, I'm getting random).

    4. The heart - This is something a bit more scientific than all the crap listed in points 1,2 and 3. The Liverpool John Moores University conducted a study on the human heart. To cut the long story short, the power of a males heart falls by 20-25% between the age of 18-70. Conversely, a females heart at 70 suffers from no age-related decline in power. This means that the heart of a healthy 70 year old woman is just as powerful as a woman of 18 years. This is self-explainotary, 'nuff said.

    Re-rant

A few blogs back, I had a half-rant about working on Hari Raya. Due to some protests by my bos and through consideration, about half the HQ staff does not need to work on Hari Raya! Fortunately (for this year anyway), I am in the half that does not need to work. However, next year I would be in the half that needs to work. Re-rant is like taking it back, get it? Re-turn, re-run, re-take, re-make, re-st? lol...

    Achievement

I have finally achieved something that I have been wanting to do for quite some time. The underwater-swimming-flip-and-turn-and-kick-off thingy while doing laps in a pool. The thingy that allows you to do laps without having to step on the pool floor. Huray! Finally! Now I can have longer swimming sessions without breaking rhythm (like its gonna do me any good... haha)

I have finally fixed my car air-con. All the while I was planning to go all the way to Setapak area to fix my car but it turned out that there is a mechanic near my office that services my company's trucks. How convenient is that! Next time I can just drop off the car for servicing and walk over to my office a few shop lots down the block. Awesome! I'm so lucky! Thank God. I have this habit of not servicing my car until the last possible moment. This is because of my 'wonderful' Cantonese. I can't communicate with the mechanic! But fortunately today I just needed to put gas into my air-con system thingy. I could roughly tell the mechanic's wife to 'yap gas' into the car. LOL (Btw, when I went back to the shop after lunch to pick up my car, there mechanic 2 little kids came running out to greet me! SOOOOOO CUTE!! They were singing 'Someone is here' in Canto... adorable).

I soooooo need to improve my Cantonese. I think I have improved it a tiny little bit since working cause the people are the operations department all insist on talking to me in Canto. Then there is this lady in accounts who only talks to me in a weird Hokkien dialect that I have trouble understanding (in the 1st place my Hokkien is really really rusty). And my bos can speak all the dialects mentioned plus Mandarin, Hakka and Teochew I think. Dang! Should ask her to teach me a bit. Haha.

Btw, my left knee and ankle hurt, dang Ampang Sports Planet futsal court is actually a thin layer of carpet covering a cement floor. So bad for the knees and ankles! On top of that, the court was senget! One end of the court was wider than the other end. So weird! Don't they measure the court before setting it up! Weirdo...
